An advocacy meeting where SGCS executive board members met with prominent MPs from the Somalia parliament was conducted on 19th September 2020 in Mogadishu. The purpose of the meeting was to introduce the goals and activities of SGCS to the MPs and seek their support on the SGCS’s mission and vision of achieving a productive society free from all kinds of addictions. A brief presentation on SGCS’s establishment, vision, mission, and activities was presented and an interactive discussion followed where the role of parliamentarians including bringing up drug-related laws and policies was discussed. Participating MPs appreciated the work that SGCS is doing in Somalia and promised a continued collaboration and coordination with SGCS, and that they will advocate for broader support to the SGCS’s mission and vision, saying that they are ready to become honorable members of the SGCS.
