About AAF

The Anti-Addiction Advocacy Forum was created to raise the awareness of addiction problems in Somalia and seek community support against all kinds of addictions and their route causes that in line with the principles of the Somali Green Crescent society.

Purpose

The purpose of ANTI-ADDICTION ADVOCACY FORUM (AAF) is:

  1. To advocate and seek support for preventing different kinds of addiction.
  2. To raise the awareness and understanding of the community about the addictions and associated problems.
  3. To Collect and present the public views on common addiction in the country and their social effects.
  4. To share the negative effects of addictions on social, health and economic issues.
  5. To mobilize youth platforms to discuss the substance abuse and their social and health problems through TVs, Radio and Social media.
  6. To commence consultative meetings for all educational stakeholders (teachers, parents and students) to enhance their awareness against substance abuse.

AAF Functions

The Anti-Addiction Advocacy Forum is run by the Office of the Somali Green Crescent Society where it organizes its activities once in every two months in the country. The AAF team will invite at least 2 expertises for panel discussion in particular topic that has been selected to focus in that forum and the audience.

 

 

  • To choose and prepare a specific topic for the forum on common addiction in the country.
  • To find out appropriate expertise for the debate topic of the forum.
  • To arrange and specify event venue and the date of the panel discussion.
  • To prepare announcements and invite the participants to the forum.
  • To find out the commentator of the event.
  • To prepare all logistic material of the event.
  • To direct over all event
  • To prepare report about the event and disseminate.
